The Rohingya people and other ethnic minorities of Burma have faced destruction and genocide, simply because of their ethnic and religious identity. As an American Jew, I cannot remain silent in the face of such atrocities. The history of my people--the persecution and genocide we have faced--compels me to speak out against this attempt to annihilate the Rohingya people. When we say, "Never Again," we mean never again for anyone, anywhere. Please do everything you can to support the Burma Human Rights and Freedom Act (S. 1186) and the similar bill in the House, which would help the Rohingya people in this desperate time by:* Authorizing desperately needed humanitarian assistance for hundreds of thousands of Rohingya refugees* Holding Burmese military officials accountable for their crimes via economic sanctions and visa denials* And calling for justice for the Rohingya people, who have faced unspeakable human rights violations. As a constituent and a supporter of American Jewish World Service, I urge you to support the Burma Human Rights and Freedom Act. The lives and freedom of the surviving Rohingya families and other ethnic minorities depend on it.
Sincerely,[Your Name] [Your Address] [City, State ZIP]
